Review Policy
Peer Review Process
Food and Nutrition Insights (FNI) is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in academic publishing through a thorough and transparent peer review process. The journal operates via an online submission and manuscript tracking system, ensuring a smooth and timely review process. We aim for a review period of 4 to 6 weeks, followed by prompt publication of accepted manuscripts.
Our editorial team, led by the Editor-in-Chief, follows strict ethical practices to ensure fairness and integrity throughout the process. FNI serves as a platform for both seasoned researchers and early-career scholars in the field of food and nutrition sciences, supporting contributions of innovative and impactful research.
Submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer review to meet the journal’s standards of quality and relevance. Each manuscript is assessed for originality, scientific robustness, and its potential to provide valuable insights into food and nutrition. Submissions must demonstrate clear significance to the field.
Initial Editorial Evaluation
Upon submission, each manuscript is screened by the editorial office to ensure it adheres to the journal’s guidelines and ethical standards. Manuscripts passing this screening are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief, who determines whether they should proceed to peer review. Manuscripts may be desk-rejected at this stage if they are deemed unsuitable or lack scientific rigor. Authors of rejected manuscripts are encouraged to revise and resubmit, incorporating editorial feedback.
Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are reviewed through a single-blind peer review process, where reviewers remain anonymous. At least two independent experts in relevant fields evaluate the manuscript's scientific quality, clarity, methodology, and relevance. In certain cases, additional reviewers may be appointed to cover interdisciplinary aspects.
Reviewers provide detailed feedback and make one of the following recommendations:
- Accept without revision
- Minor revision
- Major revision
- Reject
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on the reviewers' recommendations. Authors are notified of the editorial decision by email, along with reviewers’ feedback. In case of rejection, authors may be invited to revise and resubmit after addressing the reviewers' concerns.
Revision Process
When revisions are required, authors must submit a detailed response to each reviewer’s comment, outlining the changes made. Revised manuscripts are typically sent back to the original reviewers for further evaluation, although new reviewers may be consulted if necessary. Authors are expected to return revised manuscripts within the specified timeframe to avoid delays.
Acceptance and Proofing
Once all revisions are completed and the manuscript is accepted, authors are sent the final proof for review. Only minor corrections, such as typographical or formatting changes, are allowed at this stage. Significant revisions to the content must be approved by the editorial board.
The final manuscript will undergo formatting adjustments as per the journal’s publication standards. FNI reserves the right to make final decisions on the presentation of figures, tables, and any stylistic elements.
