Editorial Policies
Author Contributions
Food and Nutrition Insights (FNI) requires that each author's contributions be clearly specified. Authors should be appropriately credited following the ICMJE recommendations. It is assumed that all authors are accountable for the parts of the work they contributed to and have confidence in the integrity of the entire research presented in the manuscript.

Competing Interests
All authors, editors, and reviewers are required to disclose any competing interests that could influence their judgment in the review and approval/rejection of manuscripts.

Compliance with Community Guidelines and Mandates
FNI emphasizes adherence to community standards and relevant guidelines in research. Authors are expected to follow best practices specific to the communities where the research is conducted.

Confidentiality and Embargoes
All communications between authors, reviewers, and editors during the peer review process must be treated confidentially. The journal ensures that all parties involved in the manuscript assessment process understand the importance of confidentiality. Additionally, FNI may offer a media service through which select papers are provided to the media under embargo before publication.

Consent of Human Participants
For research involving human participants, informed consent is crucial. Researchers must ensure that participants are fully aware of the research details, with no coercion or manipulation involved in gaining consent for collecting biometric, biomedical, or clinical data.

Corrections and Retractions
FNI is committed to maintaining high standards of integrity in published work. We take swift action to correct or retract any articles if concerns arise about their validity or ethical practices.

Corresponding Authors
The corresponding author represents all co-authors during the manuscript submission and publication process. They are empowered to act on behalf of their co-authors and are responsible for ensuring that all contributors are accurately represented.

Diversity Commitment
At FNI, we believe that diversity strengthens research. We are committed to promoting equity, inclusion, and diversity in our editorial practices and published content. We strive to uphold these values within the broader research community.

Editorial Independence
FNI maintains that financial and commercial interests should not influence editorial decisions. All editorial judgments are made solely based on the merit of the research.

Fraud and Malpractice
We take responsibility for investigating any detected instances of fraud or malpractice in submitted or published manuscripts. Action will be taken if any unethical behavior is discovered.

Funder Affiliations
FNI requires authors to acknowledge their funding sources. Transparency about funding is essential, and funding agencies should have access to the published research they sponsor.

Institutional Affiliations
Authors should clearly link their institutional affiliations to their publications. This transparency allows readers to understand the institutional context of the research, and institutions can access the published work of both past and present employees.

Peer Review
FNI believes that robust peer review is essential for advancing research. Our peer review process ensures that research findings are reliable, valid, and meaningful. Manuscripts undergo thorough evaluation by experts in the field.

Personal Data
The privacy of personal data must be respected at all times. Authors must ensure that personal data is disclosed only with the full consent of the individuals involved.

Plagiarism
Plagiarism is unacceptable. FNI will investigate and address any cases of plagiarism in submitted manuscripts.

Preprints
FNI supports the sharing of preprints to accelerate research dissemination. Preprints are welcomed as part of the submission process, provided they are appropriately referenced.

Research Data
We encourage authors to follow best practices for sharing and archiving research data. Transparency and accessibility of research data are important for advancing scientific discovery.

Submitting Your Manuscript
FNI aims to make the manuscript submission process as straightforward as possible. Authors can easily submit their manuscript and supplementary data through our online submission system.

Third-Party Submissions
Authors must ensure that they have secured the proper rights to any third-party content used in their work. Legal reuse of content is essential for maintaining ethical publishing standards.

Article Withdrawal
Articles may be withdrawn in rare cases, such as accidental multiple submissions, ethical breaches (e.g., plagiarism or fraudulent data), or significant errors identified before formal publication. In such cases, the article content is removed, and a statement is provided explaining the reason for withdrawal.

Image Integrity
Manipulating images to obscure or falsify data is strictly prohibited. Adjustments to image clarity, such as contrast and brightness, are acceptable, provided they do not alter the original content. Any unethical image manipulation will be addressed appropriately.
