Peer Review Policy

Plant and Environment utilizes an online system for article submission, review, and tracking to ensure quality and expedite the review process. The journal offers a rapid review period of approximately 4-6 weeks, followed by the publication of research articles.

Manuscripts submitted to Plant and Environment undergo a peer-review process and are expected to be of high quality. Submissions for publication must demonstrate the potential to contribute meaningfully to the field of food and agriculture. This contribution, while it may be modest, is essential and forms the basis of what our reviewers and editors seek during the review process. The journal employs a rigorous review process to determine which articles are accepted and eventually published. We aim for a swift review and subsequent publication of high-quality manuscripts.

After initial checks, the submitted article is forwarded to the Editor-In-Chief, who evaluates the manuscript and decides on its acceptance before it undergoes peer review by at least two subject experts via a single-blind review process. The corresponding author is promptly informed of the editorial decision via email. Rejected articles are encouraged to be resubmitted in a revised form.

Revisions should include a point-by-point response to the referees, explaining the changes made to the manuscript. The revised manuscript may then be reviewed again by the original referees or new referees.

Once all editorial issues are resolved, the manuscript is formally accepted for publication. Following acceptance, authors are provided with proofs of their manuscript, and only typographical errors may be corrected. All corrections are approved by the production team. The journal reserves the right to make final decisions regarding matters of style and the size of figures.
